Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about how Stillpoint complements existing training, strengthens staff response under pressure, and supports more consistent documentation, handoff, and follow-through.

1. What does Stillpoint Consulting do?

Stillpoint Consulting provides practical staff-response training for Oregon behavioral health, residential, crisis, supportive housing, and other complex-care teams.

Most organizations already have policies, procedures, and required training in place. The challenge is not usually knowing what should happen—it is responding consistently when situations become stressful, fast-moving, or unclear.

Stillpoint addresses that challenge through a shared response pathway:

Regulate → Recognize → Respond → Document → Relay

The pathway gives staff one shared structure for recognizing what matters, choosing the next response, documenting what happened, and carrying important information forward between staff, shifts, and supervisors.

2. What is behavioral health staff response training?

Behavioral health staff response training helps teams respond more consistently when situations become stressful, fast-moving, or unclear.

Stillpoint’s approach combines regulation, situational awareness, purposeful response, documentation, and handoff into one shared pathway staff can use in real care environments.

It is designed for Oregon behavioral health, residential, crisis, supportive housing, adult foster home, and other complex-care teams.

3. Is this de-escalation or restraint training?

Stillpoint includes practical communication and de-escalation skills, but it is broader than de-escalation and is not restraint training.

Rather than teaching a single technique, Stillpoint provides a shared response pathway that helps staff regulate under pressure, recognize what is happening, choose the next response, document what matters, and carry critical information forward.

Stillpoint does not teach restraint, hands-on control, or physical intervention. When those responses are required, staff must follow their organization’s approved policies and crisis-response training.

Stillpoint helps organizations build a more consistent staff response by giving teams one shared pathway for what happens in the moment, documentation, handoff, and follow-through.

4. Who is this training for?

Stillpoint is designed for organizations where staff regularly make decisions under pressure.

It is especially relevant for behavioral health, residential treatment, crisis services, supportive housing, adult foster homes, and other complex-care environments where consistent staff response, documentation, and communication directly affect care.

Participants commonly include direct-care staff, supervisors, program managers, clinicians, nurses, and organizational leaders.

5.  How is this different from standard crisis training?

Required crisis-response and safety training teaches staff what to do when risk rises and establishes important organizational procedures.

Stillpoint focuses on something different: helping teams respond more consistently when situations become stressful, fast-moving, or unclear. Rather than teaching another crisis model, it provides a shared response pathway that supports clearer judgment, better communication, stronger documentation, and more reliable continuity between staff.

Organizations often tell us their challenge is not knowing the policy—it's helping staff use good judgment consistently in real care situations. Stillpoint was designed to address that challenge.

Stillpoint is designed to reduce response complexity by giving teams one shared pathway for applying what they already know when situations become difficult.

6. Does this support compliance and documentation?

Stillpoint is not legal, regulatory, or agency-specific compliance training, and it does not replace your organization's policies, documentation standards, or required training.

What it does provide is a consistent approach for observing, responding, documenting, and relaying information during real care situations. Participants practice documenting what happened, what actions were taken, how the situation changed, and what the next staff member or supervisor needs to know.

Organizations remain responsible for their own documentation requirements, policies, and regulatory standards. Stillpoint strengthens the consistency with which those expectations are carried out in everyday practice.

Stillpoint is designed to reduce fragmentation between staff response, documentation, handoff, and follow-through by connecting them in one shared pathway.

7. What training formats are available?

Stillpoint Response Training is designed for different levels of practice, application, and team integration. It offers different levels of depth, practice, and team integration to fit your needs.

8-Hour Practice & Deep Team Integration

The best starting point depends on your organization's goals, team size, available time, and the level of practice you want participants to experience.

8.  Are continuing education hours available?

Yes. Stillpoint Response Training is approved through two Oregon continuing-education pathways.

MHACBO continuing education

• 90-Minute Pathway Overview: 1.5 CE hours
• 4-Hour Shift Readiness Training: 4.0 CE hours
• 8-Hour Practice & Deep Team Integration: 8.0 CE hours

ODHS adult foster home training

The 90-minute, 4-hour, and 8-hour formats are approved for APD and Behavioral Health adult foster homes.

Participants and organizations remain responsible for confirming that approved hours meet their specific credentialing, licensing, employer, or continuing education requirements.

9. Can the training be adapted to our setting?

Yes. Stillpoint uses the same Response Pathway across every organization, while examples, scenarios, discussion, documentation practice, and implementation are tailored to your team's setting, roles, and everyday challenges.

The framework remains consistent while the training is shaped around the realities your staff actually face—whether that's behavioral health, residential care, crisis services, supportive housing, adult foster homes, or other complex-care environments.

The shared pathway stays consistent while helping staff apply what they already know within the realities, expectations, and workflows of their own setting.

10. How do we schedule or request training?

Start by completing the Training Fit Assessment or requesting a brief conversation. We'll learn about your setting, goals, staff, and the challenges you're trying to address.

From there, we'll recommend the training option that appears to be the best fit and provide a proposal outlining the format, scope, pricing, and next steps.

Training dates are reserved once the proposal is approved, delivery details are confirmed, and the required deposit is received.
