1. What does Stillpoint Consulting do?
Stillpoint Consulting provides two related services in Oregon:

Practical staff-response training for behavioral health, residential, crisis, supportive housing, adult foster home, and other complex-care teams.

OPDC-approved Dual Diagnosis Evaluations / Mitigation and ASAM / Drug & Alcohol Evaluations for defense counsel.
Most care organizations already have policies and required training. The usual challenge is responding consistently when situations become stressful, fast-moving, or unclear. Stillpoint addresses that through a shared response pathway:
Regulate → Recognize → Respond → Document → Relay
For defense counsel, Stillpoint provides written behavioral-health evaluations scoped to the referral question, including clinically relevant treatment and mitigation findings within professional scope.
2. Is this de-escalation or restraint training?
Stillpoint includes practical communication and de-escalation skills, but it is broader than de-escalation and is not restraint training.
Rather than teaching a single technique, Stillpoint provides a shared response pathway that helps staff regulate under pressure, recognize what is happening, choose the next response, document what matters, and carry critical information forward.
Stillpoint does not teach restraint, hands-on control, or physical intervention. When those responses are required, staff must follow their organization’s approved policies and crisis-response training.
3. What training options are available?
Stillpoint Response Training is offered in three formats:

90-Minute Pathway Overview: a focused introduction to the Response Pathway.

4-Hour Shift Readiness Training: applied practice with discussion, documentation, and realistic care scenarios.

8-Hour Practice & Deep Team Integration: extended scenario practice, coaching, handoff, and implementation planning.
The best starting point depends on your organization’s goals, team size, available time, and the level of practice you want.

4. Are continuing education hours available?
Yes. Stillpoint Response Training is approved through two Oregon continuing education pathways.

ODHS adult foster home training
The 90-minute, 4-hour, and 8-hour formats are approved for APD and Behavioral Health adult foster homes.
Participants and organizations remain responsible for confirming that approved hours meet their specific requirements.
5. How do we schedule or request training?
Start by completing the Training Fit form or requesting a brief conversation. We’ll learn about your setting, goals, staff, and the challenges you’re trying to address, then recommend the best-fit option and send a proposal.
6. What services are approved for OPDC?
Stillpoint is approved to provide Dual Diagnosis Evaluation / Mitigation ($130/hour) and ASAM / Drug & Alcohol Evaluation ($435 flat) for Oregon defense counsel under PAE authorization.
7. What is the difference between the two evaluations?
Use Dual Diagnosis Evaluation / Mitigation when both mental health and substance use concerns are relevant, and counsel needs diagnostic findings, treatment recommendations, and mitigation-relevant clinical context.
Use the ASAM / Drug & Alcohol Evaluation when substance use is the primary concern and counsel needs a focused ASAM-informed report.
8. What does the report include?
The written report is prepared for counsel and scoped to the referral question. It may include diagnostic impressions, mental health and substance-use findings, ASAM findings when applicable, treatment recommendations, mitigation-relevant clinical factors, and limitations.
Reports do not include opinions on guilt, criminal responsibility, competency, or legal causation.
9. How does the referral process work?
Counsel contacts Stillpoint to confirm fit and availability, then requests the appropriate service through OPDC. Work begins after OPDC issues the PAE authorization and counsel forwards it to Stillpoint.
